The “next stop” in the supply of natural gas for vehicles (FISIKON) is the city of Ioannina.
Coordinated efforts by DEPA, regional authorities and companies involved in the implementation of a sustainable development strategy have brought positive results in expanding the supply of natural gas for vehicles as more areas are gaining access to the fuel. Supply of remote areas is now secured by the use of a new, European-standard technology and the of tank trucks for transportation. The “Next stop” in the supply of natural gas for vehicles is the city of Ioannina: DEPA and the regional bus line (KTEL buses) of Ioannina have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with a view to converting the local bus fleet into natural gas vehicles.
The final agreement is expected to be signed in the next few months. It provides for the construction of a new natural gas filling station in the city of Ioannina and the conversion of KTEL buses into natural gas vehicles. The filling station will be serving other vehicles as well (taxis, private vehicles, professional vehicles, etc.) In collaboration with ELPE, DEPA has already established a network of filling stations in Athens, Thessaloniki, Lamia, Volos and Larissa and is planning to expand the network across Greece.
