Mr. Sachinis Chairman and CEO, held a speech, stressing that ITGI System is the most advanced option, ensuring successful gas transportation from Azerbaijan to European markets. Defining the essential role of Greece as an emerging gas hub that will facilitate the development of a liquid regional market, Mr. Sachinis underlined the maturity of the Interconnector Turkey-Greece-Italy (ITGI), mentioning the recently completed eight-month Detailed Marine Survey for the offshore part of ITGI, IGI Poseidon, which will connect the Greek and Italian gas transportation systems.
Furthermore he analyzed how the phased opening of the Southern Corridor can be realized, through the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB) as early as 2014, supplying natural gas from Azerbaijan to Greece, Bulgaria, and beyond. ITGI System, he added, is in full compliance and can transit natural gas from Shah Deniz II, and can be scaled up to a capacity of 24 bcma, as additional gas volumes become available.
